Actress Nina Dobrev recently announced via Instagram that she would be leaving "The Vampire Diaries" following the show's sixth season. Now, the actress has once again turned to Instagram to show fans a behind-the-scenes look at her shooting her final scenes in the series.

"Dearest TVD Family, I've just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn't just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party," the actress wrote on her farewell address via Instagram.

One of the images shows Dobrev with her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder. Somerhalder and Dobrev play the two main lead characters in the series, Damon and Elena. It was previously speculated that the actress was leaving due to her break-up with Somerhalder but this was disproven through an article on E! Online.

"I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure," the actress announced via Instagram.

She also stated that she and Somerhalder remain as good friends. The actor has since moved on to date "Twilight" star Nikki Reed.

It was speculated that the show might come to an end following Dobrev's departure but The CW Network has confirmed that the show will go on and will focus on the Salvatore brothers Damon and Stefan, the latter portrayed by Paul Wesley.

Following Dobrev's departure from the show, it was also announced by The CW that Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler Lockwood, would also be leaving.

Dobrev's final scene was shot on Wednesday, April 15. According to Zap2It, she wanted to document every moment of her last day and snag a picture with everyone involved, from her fellow actors to the production staff.

Her final appearance on "The Vampire Diaries" will be the season 6 finale, the untitled 22nd episode, to air on May 14 on The CW.
