Mystic Falls will once again be enveloped with trouble when the second part of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs this month.

In the 11th episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7, Stefan (Paul Wesley) will do everything he can to help his older brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) deal with the effects of being imprisoned in the Phoenix stone while struggling with trauma himself. This could mean that Stefan will have to fight the hallucinations he will experience so he can help Damon heal.

But what exactly did the elder Salvatore brother see when he was locked inside the Phoenix stone?

Speaking with TVLine, series executive producer Caroline Dries revealed that Damon saw a familiar face while inside the stone.

"There's one familiar face that the diehard fans will recognize," Dries teased. "It will be a nice callback. I'm excited to see if anyone remembers what we're talking about."

However, she chose not to give further hints about the returning character. Is it possible that Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) or their father Giuseppe Salvatore (James Remar) returned to torture Damon?

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for "The Vampire Diaries" season 7, episode 11 titled "Things We Lost in the Fire" reads:

"With the traumatic effects of the Phoenix stone taking a toll on his brother, Stefan attempts to help Damon regain his grip on reality, while secretly struggling with his own experience in the stone. Elsewhere, Matt and Bonnie deal with the fallout after Julian and his men take over Mystic Falls, leading Matt to spiral out of control and into trouble with an officer named Penny. Meanwhile, Tyler returns to town for Alaric's baby shower and Caroline makes an upsetting discovery involving Alaric and his future plan for the babies."

The episode will air on Feb. 5 on The CW.
