Executive producer Caroline Dries said that the sixth season of "The Vampire Diaries" will feature a new villain.

In the past, "The Vampire Diaries" featured a variety of villains like Silas, Klaus, and Katherine. Now, a new villain will shake things up. Showrunner Caroline Dries told HitFix that a new villain will be on his way to Mystic Falls. It seems that the antagonist, to be played by Chris Wood, will mess with the main characters.

"He is just like a crazy person and he's super-fun to write and the actor's name is Chris Wood ... He's very charismatic and charming and psychotic and likable and unlikable in all the right ways, you get to meet him in a few episodes and he's gonna stick around for a while, hopefully," she told the publication.

Chris Wood is best known for playing Adam in "The Carrie Diaries." Now, he will play the anti-hero to stop Elena on her tracks. Things are pretty messed up right now since the disappearance of Damon and Bonnie. What happened to Damon and Bonnie will be confirmed when the season 6 starts to air. However, Elena will move on after Damon's death. In a promo teaser of the show's upcoming season 6, Elena is devastated by Damon's absence and she calls Stefan to ask for hope, but he says that she should say goodbye to Damon.

Next season, Elena will be back in school and will sign up for an internship at Whitmore Medical Center where she will train to be a doctor like her parents. There are hearsays that Elena will have a new love interest after her beau disappeared to The Other Side. Whispers say that Elena will also be a love interest for Alaric, although not immediately. Elena will hit the wall early in the return of the series, and will grieve the loss of her lover.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 will be back on air on Oct. 2 at 8/7 on The CW Network.
