Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) brotherly love will prevail in the face of an immense threat in the upcoming season of the CW series "The Vampire Diaries."

It has been previously reported that the vampires' mother Lily (Annie Wersching) would be trying out some new tricks to pit them against each other. Decades of experience have apparently trained her how to wrap her sons against her little finger and do what she may with them. The Salvatore matriarch knew how to push the right buttons and this would be seen in season 11.

While Stefan and Damon appear to fall under her spell, however, they would quickly catch up with her evil plans. Showrunner Caroline Dries told Zap2it that Lily would not succeed in causing a rift between the two brothers.

"She was trying to basically turn them against each other, but they're like, 'You know what? I've been brothers with him a long time, so I think I'm going to side with my bro.' The love story this season is the brothers, so they'll get the most screen time."

Meanwhile, rumors that there would be a "Steroline" baby for the upcoming installment have been making the rounds online. Speculations that Stefan and Caroline (Candice Accola) would spawn a baby started after the actress announced that she was pregnant with husband Joe King's child. This change in plot would purportedly cover her ballooning belly during production.

In an interview with TV Line, Accola said that the TVD team already knew of her condition and was nothing but supportive. She also insisted that the writers also knew where the season was going and that the show creators were "the best people to predict the future of the show."

"Julie [Plec] and Caroline [Dries] are the best people to ask about [ how her pregnancy will be included in the show.] To be honest, I'm along for the ride just like the viewers are," she said.

Accola also made clear that Caroline would be back, as "badass" as ever, when "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 premieres Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
