'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers: Damon acting against his will

More information about the eighth and final season of "The Vampire Diaries" is finally coming to light before the premiere episode airs on Friday.

In another sneak peek released by The CW, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) continue their search for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey). But it seems like Bonnie is beginning to think that their efforts will go in vain.

As Stefan discuss the possible leads that could help them find Damon and Enzo, Bonnie will admit that she is already losing faith in finding them. She also told her friend that she gets hurt every time they encounter a new clue and end up failing. Stefan will encourage her not to give up, but Bonnie will reveal that she will never stop doing everything to find the two. "But don't ask me to have hope," she tells Stefan in the teaser video. "Hope hurts. And I don't want to hurt anymore."

Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec talked about the beginning of the end for "The Vampire Diaries" series in another promotional video.

Plec reminded fans that all the titles in season 8 will be taken from some of their favorite quotes from the show's previous season. For example, the premiere episode was given the title "Hello, Brother." This will remind fans of the first line that Damon told Stefan when they saw each other again in the pilot season.

The executive producer also explained that drastic changes will happen to Damon in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. In the upcoming season, Damon and Enzo will be forced to act against their will after the vault monster took control of their minds at the end of season 7. But this will have a bigger effect on the older Salvatore brother.

According to Plec: "This is the Damon Salvatore that we thought we'd never see again. The Damon Salvatore, who, pre-Elena, had not a care in the world and didn't care who he hurt and how bad he was, only this time, it's being caused by someone else and so Damon has lost control of Damon."

The CW will air the premiere episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 on Friday, Oct. 21.
