Since "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is the show's last, it looks like the first episodes, if not all, will be major nods and throwbacks to the season that started it all.

The titles of the initial trio of episodes in the upcoming season reference key moments in the first season. The premiere is called "Hello, Brother."

For those who forgot, these are the words Damon uttered in greeting his little bro Stefan (Paul Wesley) in the pilot episode. This also marked Damon's reign as a bad guy.

When "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, Damon will be pretty much be in the same frame of mind as he was in the first season of the show, thanks to the monster in the Armory Vault that stripped him off his humanity.

The second episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is "Today Will Be Different," the same words Elena wrote on her diary in the pilot as she hopes for a new beginning as she moves on from the death of her parents.

The third installment has the title "You Decided That I Was Worth Saving." This, on the other hand, comes straight from the season 1 finale.

According to Melty, this will likely involve Bonnie (Kat Graham), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) as they bring Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) back to normal.

It appears that "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will be mega nostalgic as the show is expected to be peppered with unforgettable and significant moments from the first season.

Executive producer Julie Plec hopes to bring back as many familiar faces as possible. Nina Dobrev is of course of the people she wants to see in the final adventure of the gang in Mystic Falls.

The CW president Mark Pedowitz has revealed that the actress is in talks for a return in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 and he himself gushed about seeing her return as Elena Gilbert for the last time.
