The eighth season of the TV series "The Vampire Diaries" has finally premiered after several months of waiting, and a lot of fans are expressing their delight upon the show's return. However, there are some spoiler reports that claim that Ian Somerhalder will have his own wife Nikki Reed replace Nina Dobrev, who refused to reprise her role in the series.

According to Game N Guide, the rumors of the Somerhalder-Dobrev reunion not happening has been rife for quite a while now. After all, Dobrev has been adamant about her stand that there is no reason for her to return in the newest season of the show.

Also, this is reinforced by the fact that Somerhalder will have his wife join the show anyway.

Furthermore, Dobrev was reportedly discouraged by this fact, and that she does not want to cause any trouble for both Ian and his wife, with the latter portraying the show's new villain: Sybil.

However, despite the authenticity of these reports, both actors have yet to give any concrete statements about the matter, and as such it still remains to be seen as to whether or not Dobrev will not return anymore.

According to the Inquisitr, Julie Plec — the series' executive producer — said that Elena Gilbert (played by Dobrev) will have a much stronger presence in the newest season of "The Vampire Diaries."

Still, this does not seem to be the case as she expanded by saying that it will be a lot like her presence last year. As such, there are rumors that Gilbert will be making an appearance at the season finale of the show.

However, it is still possible that the management is trying to keep Dobrev's return in secrecy. Time will tell, as the new season of "The Vampire Diaries" will progress to reveal the fact soon enough.
