Adam Levine's golden boy Jordan Smith is considered by many as the top contender to take home the coveted title of being "The Voice" in the NBC reality television singing competition's ninth season.

After being the first to secure a spot in the finale, Smith's popularity could not be denied any longer, as the American people demonstrated their approval to the 21-year old big guy from Kentucky. His rendition of Queen's "Somebody to Love" skyrocketed to the top spot in iTunes mere 30 minutes after the semifinals ended on Monday. PEOPLE reports that Smith ended British singer Adele's reign, where her comeback single "Hello" topped the chart for five weeks straight.

Coach Adam also could not contain his excitement over the performance as he dubbed it "one of the best things" he has ever seen in his "entire life." After jumping out of his seat and giving his ward a huge bear hug, Levine even dropped the microphone to signal that the competition just ended for him. Smith belted the classic song with the accompaniment of a gospel choir and to say he mesmerized everyone listening was an understatement. Heavy.com even described it as nothing less than a religious experience.

Smith told Parade that he was still in shock over the support he has been receiving week after week. He said it was a surreal experience for him and that he would never be used to the feeling of being loved as much.

"Some artists work their whole life for chances like this. I never imagined a year ago that I would be here and doing this and be so successful. Every week, I am surprised and blown away, and humbled by it, honestly," he admitted.

Smith has been a frontrunner in the competition ever since his blind audition, where he performed Sia's "Chandelier." The judges were blown away with his voice and could not believe an angelic voice could come from such a big man. Gwen Stefani called it "the trippiest turn-around blind audition" and one of the "freakiest" moments of her life. Pharrell tagged it "super cool."

"The Voice" two-part season 9 finale will air on Monday, Dec. 14 at, 8.p.m. EST and Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
