"The Walking Dead" creator just stopped a show rumor dead on its tracks, as he has shut down some speculations from fans of the show that protagonist Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) might soon die.

Recently, fans have been theorizing Rick's apparent and impending death in the show and this was bolstered by the fact that his son Carl (Chandler Riggs) also died despite being a long mainstay character in the series. Lincoln was also worried about the state and future of his character after having read a script that he deemed "doesn't look good" and admitting fret.

Source material creator Robert Kirkman, on the other hand, thinks otherwise and has even stated that he has a strong conviction that the show will not kill off Rick. Kirkman is the creator of "The Walking Dead" graphic novel from where the AMC show began but eventually branched off into a different continuity.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Kirkman has responded to a query about Rick's death, stating "I don't expect that. That's not an intention there." Though he also claimed "I've said from the very beginning that no one is safe. I do strongly feel like the show could survive without a Rick Grimes. There's certainly a lot of story to tell without that central character."

He clarified that he talked often in the graphic novel and pertaining to the show about Rick's death and did so only to make the audience feel that no one in the title is safe, which he thinks is the same psychological tactic used in the show. He also thinks people should not read too much into what he did for Rick in the graphic novel, as well as what the writers did for the show.

He assured fans that Rick will definitely not die in the graphic novel and he also thinks the same for Rick in the series, much to the fans' relief.
