'The Walking Dead' plot news: Comic books reveals Michonne's child to be alive

Michonne as portrayed in the TV adaptation for "The Walking Dead"AMC

Fans of Michonne from "The Walking Dead" will be surprised to know that her child might not have been dead this whole time, as the latest issue from the graphic novel reveals that her daughter Elodie was actually alive and looking for her mother.

It is not certain whether the television adaptation will follow suit and bring back Michonne's daughter from an apparent death, but it has been confirmed in the source material, meaning it is now canon. "The Walking Dead" #175 held this big revelation for Michonne, where she was joined by Magna, Yumiko, Eugene, Siddiq, and Princess at The Commonwealth to discover a New World Order.

This was where Michonne found Elodie, safe and sound within the confines of The Commonwealth, along with 50,000 other survivors of the zombie apocalypse. Elodie's reveal was also quite dramatic as Michonne actually saw her displaying a picture of her mother on a bulletin board with the caption "Have you seen my mom?" This brought Michonne to tears as she always thought that her daughter, along with the rest of her family, was dead.

This was also quite a turning point for Michonne, as the character can be recalled to be driven by grief and her survivor's guilt since the last she saw her ex-husband was on a mission to find Elodie and her sister, where she never saw all of them again. This was what turned Michonne from a proud and happy lawyer to a katana-wielding zombie slayer both in the show and in the graphic novel.

Website CBR has suggested that this might have a profound effect on Michonne and how she fits into the plot of the franchise, where her group's mistrust for The Commonwealth might get waived or her goals might change entirely since her daughter was alive all along. For all fans know, Michonne might slowly be returning back to normal in the graphic novel.
