Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) fans can now scratch him off their list of protagonists they want to save, as Reedus' character does not plan to die with the ending of "The Walking Dead." The actor recently hinted that the character plans to stick around until the end of the show, or at least not die until the ending.

Reedus has stated in an interview that he definitely thinks that his popular Southern archer in "The Walking Dead" will see the end of the show, though not necessarily the end of the zombie apocalypse in the franchise. He also expressed that he likes the character very much and is willing to do the role until the very last season, which may be until season 10.

"I love being on the show. I could do this until it ended. There's part of me that really wants to bookend the show. I started the show and I want to end the show," enthused Reedus. It can be recalled that Reedus is one of the few remaining characters from season 1 of the show who has not been killed off yet, along with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and a handful few.

Grimes' son Carl (Chandler Riggs), however, will not share the same fate as his father, as it has been revealed that the boy will be facing his death on the midseason premiere of the show on Feb. 25. This death will leave only three original season 1 characters alive, one of whom is Dixon.

With Dixon's popularity as a fan-favourite character, the producers of the show might vote to retain him, though the same cannot be said for Grimes.

Rest assured, Dixon's chances of survival are higher than Grimes, who was the de facto protagonist of the franchise, and this was due to sheer popularity alone. Fans have nothing to fear from the show's direction.
