Expect to see a bloody Valentine's Day with the release of the winter premiere of "The Walking Dead" season 6 on Feb. 14.

After Alexandria was splattered with blood during the midseason finale of "The Walking Dead" season 6, fans are eager to find out the next steps of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group after the walkers invaded the supposedly safe neighborhood.

But unlike the previous midseason ending of the post-apocalyptic thriller where a teaser for the second half of the season was revealed, AMC chose to keep the suspense going by not showing any trailer this time. This means that fans of the show will be kept in the dark until the series returns next year.

However, Lincoln recently teased that the events happening after the midseason finale are something to look forward to.

"I will say episodes eight through 16 — I'm more excited than I've ever been before, just where the story is headed," Lincoln told The Wrap. "Eight and nine are unbelievable. Unbelievable. They're some of the best episodes I've read and when I was filming, it just got bigger and more epic and more insane every day that we shot."

The second part of the season will also introduce Negan, who will be portrayed by seasoned TV actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

In the comic books written by Robert Kirkman, Negan is one of the most hated villains. He leads a group called The Saviors.

Lincoln shared that Morgan is a welcome addition to the cast of the series. "I've met him and he's a very nice guy and a terrific actor," the lead actor claimed. "I know he's going to be an incredible asset to the show. And he's also extremely excited. He told me he's been a fan of the show for years and he can't wait to sink his teeth into the role."

More deaths must also be expected when "The Walking Dead" returns for the second half of season 6.
