"The Walking Dead" is returning to television on Valentine's Day. Ahead of the midseason premiere, showrunner Scott Gimple, along with series stars Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Melissa McBride (Carol), and Steven Yeun (Glenn), took the stage at the 92Y in New York City on Monday, Feb. 8, to tease what's in store for fans during the second half of season 6.

Gimple said (via Tech Insider) that the second half of the season will showcase "some of the most dark, scary, twisted stuff." The producer revealed that while the characters will go to "some very dark places," there will also be light moments as they attempt a comedic episode.

"So there is comedy, there's actually some sweetness, and then it's interspersed with this incredibly dark stuff," Gimple said.

Gimple also said that while the first half of the season was about the separated groups that eventually came together, the second half will have a lot of group episodes and he hopes that fans will be surprised when the season builds up to its conclusion.

Andrew Lincoln (Rick) also spoke with Entertainment Weekly earlier this week and said that when the show returns, it's going to "scare some people."

Lincoln revealed that the returning episode will almost feel like the end of a chapter, teasing that "something happens" in the midseason premiere. The actor previously told the Huffington Post that he was shocked when he read the script for the upcoming episode that he dropped his script when he read it.

Lincoln said that the storyline will pick up the pace and that a lot of things will happen "in quick succession that propel us toward a very thrilling finale." The actor also said that out of everything he has done on the show, five of his favorite episodes are in the remaining eight episodes of season 6.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 returns on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
