Another character who will cause a lot of trouble for Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group when "The Walking Dead" returns for the second half of season 6.

According to TVLine, the newcomer will be very familiar to fans of the comic book and will be played by "24" alum Xander Berkeley.

Berkeley will be playing Gregory. In Robert Kirkman's comic books, the character is the leader of the Hilltop Colony who betrays Rick and Maggie for Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Berkeley is a TV series veteran and his credits include roles in "Remington Steele," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Longmire."

While fans are eagerly waiting for new episodes of the series to air, there has been speculation that the show will kill off a lot of characters when the show returns next month. This is in line with showrunner Scott Gimple's teaser for the midseason premiere. Gimple said on the aftershow "Talking Dead" (via Uproxx) that episode 9 is one of the biggest episodes that they have done on the show.

"So many people die," said Gimple with a laugh.

And while there are some who are excited about Negan's arrival, many fear that this could mean the end for Glenn (Steven Yeun), who just survived a zombie attack last November by crawling to a dumpster. When asked by TVLine if fans have a reason to be afraid of Negan's arrival, the showrunner said that it would be misleading of him to say from a viewer's point of view that he wouldn't be afraid.

"I doubt it's going to involve flowers," said Gimple about Negan's arrival. "The fact that he's coming is not going to mean great stuff for Rick's group."

In the comics, Negan carries a bat covered in barbed wire, which he calls Lucille. He uses the bat against Rick's group and ends up bashing Glenn's head with it.

"The Walking Dead" returns on Feb. 14 on AMC.
