'Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers: Will Maggie be killed off?

Lauren Cohan as MaggieAMC

Throughout "The Walking Dead" season 6, fans were worried that Glenn (Steven Yeun) may have bitten the dust after falling into a mosh pit of walkers. He turned out alive but there are now speculations that Glenn's pregnant wife, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), will be killed off instead.

According to a report from Vanity Fair, the actress was recently spotted during an event with much shorter hair. It is pointed out that the actors of the show are contractually obligated to retain their haircuts and other noticeable physical aspects as long as their characters are still on the show.

Given that she cut her hair, it is speculated that she will be killed off in one of the upcoming episodes of season 6B. It is pointed out in a report from Cinema Blend that fans may be jumping the gun here and assuming too much too early but there is one factor that does give credence to this rumor: the confirmed arrival of the villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

In the original "The Walking Dead" comic books by Robert Kirkman, Negan is seen as one of the most vicious villains in the series and is responsible for killing Glenn. This action is what sparks a war between Negan's forces and Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group.

However, fans were already treated with a storyline that teased Glenn's death and it would be unlikely for the studios to make the character go through those trials only to let Negan kill him. Cinema Blend points out that there is a chance Negan may instead kill off Maggie.

The report does state that this would be a big decision given the sensitive issue of showing a large man beating a woman to death with a baseball bat but it is also stated that the actors have called season 6 the darkest yet in the series.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 returns this coming Feb. 14, 2016.
