The midseason premiere for "The Walking Dead" season 6 introduced several major changes to the characters and to Alexandria as a whole, but according to a recent report from the Hollywood Reporter, some of those changes may cause trouble to brew between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus).

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple and comic book creator Robert Kirkman explain that Rick has gone through a drastic change, particularly after the episode's climax, and that he finally trusts the people of Alexandria just as much as he trusts the group he's been with since season 1.

However, Daryl is said to be going the opposite direction. Gimple explains that during the beginning of season 6, it was Daryl that was optimistic regarding other people but the experience he had in the woods back in episode 6 "Always Accountable" has forever altered Daryl's opinions.

"He fought along with everyone else in Alexandria to win it back but he didn't have the same experience that Rick did; he had opposite," Gimple stated. "He had an experience that drove him to feel less good about people and strangers. He's on a bit of a different and darker track than Rick."

With both characters now on the opposite end of where they started this season in, it is now speculated that the two will get into some form of conflict moving forward. This may occur while discussing how to rebuild Alexandria and how to bring in new people or in regards to their upcoming battle with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors.

The latter is slightly unlikely given that Gimple confirmed the Saviors won't be seen very much for the next batch of episodes. This doesn't rule out Rick and Daryl arguing about what their group should do in preparation for the Saviors.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 episode 10 will air this Feb. 21.
