'Walking Dead' season 6B spoilers: Danai Gurira talks major changes

Danai Gurira as MichonneAMC

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, actress Danai Gurira gave a little insight into what fans can expect in the upcoming second half of "The Walking Dead" season 6. The actress, who plays katana-wielding Michonne, most importantly hinted that the cast of characters would go through some radical changes due to upcoming events.

Gurira pointed out that the characters will go through a few struggles that they've never experierenced before and that is saying a lot. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors have gone through a lot in the show's six seasons and finding something new to cross their paths cannot spell anything good.

"There's also very specific character growth and experiences and arcs that are surprising -- and I think very intriguing -- that also occur in the midst of the larger arc, which is a very macro and ethic transformative experience for the group," the actress continued to explain.

Fans expect that this experience being described relates to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his group called the Saviors. As stated in a report from Cinema Blend, Negan and his people may be the only group that can be considered just as experienced and as violent as Rick's.

While Gurira did not answer if the residents of Alexandria will be united or divided following the zombie invasion, she did state that Rick's group is "fed up" with constantly being on the move and that the characters would prefer having a permanent place to call home.

She continued to explain the hardship of living on the streets amidst a zombie apocalypse and that it is possible for the characters to stick together in Alexandria, particularly after Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) entrusted Michonne with her future plans for the town, essentially turning Michone and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) into the town's next leaders.

"The Walking Dead" season 6B will premiere this Feb. 14.
