With the airing of the first episode of "The Walking Dead" season five, an additional scene after the credits showed a character who was last seen in the very first season- Morgan Jones, portrayed by Lennie James.

Morgan had noticed the tree marks behind the Terminus sign which Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, transformed into "NO Sanctuary."

AMC made a statement about the scene and offered details on what will go down regarding Morgan's character.

"Months after Rick's escape from Terminus, a masked stranger marches down the railroad tracks," the network stated. "He stops to see the Terminus sign Rick modified, and hangs his head. He removes his mask. It's Morgan."

Writers for "TWD" have already mentioned that this surviving character will become highly involved in the fifth season. According to Robert Kirkman, Morgan is doing better compared to before when he had just lost his wife Jenny and son Duane, and he is searching for Rick's group.

"He's on the road, he's alone. You never know, we've got to see him interact with people," Kirkman explained. "He could still be a loon. But yeah, he's on their trail."

The writer-producer also stated that Terminus will be aiding him in looking for Rick and company.

"It's certainly a question as to whether he'll meet up with them, or when he'll meet up with them," Kirkman said, "but we've got a lot of big plans for the character of Morgan, so stay tuned."

While Lennie James will be reprising his role, a new cast member has been added to the lineup. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Alexandra Breckenridge from "American Horror Story" will be joining the "TWD" cast, although details about her role have not been announced.

The Hollywood Reporter has noted that it may be possible for Breckenridge to be promoted to a regular cast member in season six.

Before the premiere of season five, it was officially announced by AMC that the hit series has been renewed for a sixth season.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" season five airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
