AMC has ordered a fifth season of the hit post-apocalyptic series, "The Walking Dead" and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the gang will return on Sunday, Oct. 12.

The onset of the season premiere is a rather obvious revelation that Terminus (a supposed refuge for the lasting humans) is not the place it claims to be and that the group will have to tackle another horde of cannibals to fight for their lives.

The first episode for the new season entitled "No Sanctuary" will immediately carry over from the events that closed the fourth season, where Rick, Michonne (Danai Gurira), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) were reunited in a way that is definitely not like how they wished—ensnared by the idea of finding a safe place but ended up trapped in a trailer beseeched by flesh-eating creatures. Here, we would finally see if Rick's bold declaration, "They're screwing with the wrong people," will ever come about.

There are  tons of developments to see on the upcoming season. Viewers will see for themselves a bolder and a more dauntless Carol (Melissa McBride). Moreover, the season will unveil the true whereabouts of Beth (Emily Kinney), and if she's still alive. Kinney said in an interview with Indiewire during the Red Carpet premiere in LA a thing or two about her character and some new ones too.

"I'm excited for the fans to finally get to see where Beth is and see how she deals with her new circumstances. And also there are so many awesome new characters and I think that's exciting."

Norman Reedus has also been all out with how far the characters have gone through.

"These characters are so different from when we first started off. We come flying out of the gate in the fifth year, it's that way the whole time."

And of course, the new season will certainly not go easy with the deaths, as what Michael Cudlitz (Abraham Ford) told Huffington Post Canada.

"There are always deaths! That's what's going to happen! People are gonna die! That's a fact."

Sspeculations suggest that former delivery pizza boy, Glenn will be one of those who will face death in the upcoming season.

The show is ridiculously popular and AMC is already cooking up a sixth season for the series even before the fifth premieres, according to IndieWire.

The horror drama is rapidly becoming a saga and has gotten outstanding viewer feedback and a fanbase greater than the zombies. No season fell short of ratings and those ratings only increase as the story progresses. With estimated 12-13 million viewers weekly, "The Walking Dead" has officially transformed itself into the most-watched drama in cable history.
