When "The Walking Dead" season 6 midseason finale aired, the episode ended with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) leading the survivors of Alexandria out from the house and through a crowd of zombies. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the midseason premiere will pick up right where the midseason finale left off.

Series creator Robert Kirkman, creator of the original comic books the series is based on, first joked that the midseason would pick up elsewhere and that the events of the midseason finale would only be visited several episodes later. He then conceded that this was a joke and then confirmed what would truly happen when the series returns.

"We pick up right in that moment," Kirkman explained in the interview. "Alexandria is overrun. Rick and the kids are all covered in guts trying to get through the crowd. Everyone is where we last saw them, and things get worse from there."

However, despite his statement confirming things will get worse, he also stated that there is a glimmer of hope for the characters. Kirkman reiterates that the main goal since the beginning of the season was to focus on rebuilding Alexandria. Kirkman states that the survivors will plan for long-term goals and will go back to build the town again.

Before this happens, Kirkman did state that the characters will experience a few mishaps first and will go through a few bumps on the road. The characters are said to go from place to place before eventually making their way back to Alexandria.

This will be the first time the characters will return to a ruined safe haven. The characters did not return to Hershel's (Scott Wilson) farm after it burned and neither did they return to the prison when it was sabotaged by the Governor (David Morrissey).

"The Walking Dead" season 6B will premiere this coming Feb. 14.
