Creator of "The Walking Dead" Robert Kirkman spilled some beans regarding the last scene of season 6 where Negan is about to beat to death one of Rick Grimes' companions by his barbed wire bat, which he named Lucille. In an interview with Kirkman by The Walking Dead Magazine, he said that the heads knew where the story might go even before the start of season 6.

The actor playing the character was told before that they would die for season 7 and it was also reported that the other actors and actresses were not told about the possible demise of one character from Negan.

Kirkman said, "I see a lot of speculation online where people are like, "Nobody knows who dies," and we were waiting for that reaction. It was all inaccurate and weird speculation. The season seven premiere was written when that finale aired, so we've known for a very long time."

With a lot of suspicions of fans going online, at least they would be assured to know that one character would be safe from Negan. Kirkman somehow confirmed his identity when he was going through how would Rick Grimes develop in season 7.

He said the difference of season 6, where Rick was perfectly in control and was able to lead his group gripping for survival, to the next season.

"But looking at this as Rick's story, if you watch season six you see from the very first episode, when they are dealing with the herd and Rick is fighting with the people in Alexandria, that he's 100 percent in control. He gets more and more power and control over the course of the season. He makes decisions that are harsh and brutal, hunting down Saviors and killing them. Season six Rick is probably more confident, more secure, more relaxed and comfortable than we've ever seen him," he said.

He then contrasts it to what will happen to Rick and how he would play out things when he has no control over problematic situations endangering his friends and family.

Kirkman later realized he slipped that Rick would survive Negan's thirst for blood, at least for now. "Look at Andrew Lincoln's performance, trembling and shaking and saying nothing and just listening to Negan. He's powerless to what's coming. When we see who was killed and what the outcome of that is, and where that leads Rick and the rest of the survivors–I guess I just gave up that it's not Rick, so it's not Rick–that's the beginning of a new story," Kirkman said.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will air on October 23 at 9pm on ANC.
