Popular American television series "The Walking Dead" is currently on hiatus and will return in February for the continuation of season 8. Recently, producer David Alpert defends the show's declining ratings. Meanwhile, spoilers indicate that it is possible that only one man will survive in season 8.

Reports note that since Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) will already die, only two characters will be left. This could be Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James). However, James will be part of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 4, which may mean that he will probably leave the series as well.

Sources add that James left the production of "The Walking Dead" season 8 finale since he will be filming "Fear the Walking Dead" season 4 in Austin, Texas. If the production overlaps, it would be difficult for the actor to go from one place to another. Does this mean that James will be leaving the show soon?

In a previous interview with ComicBook, James revealed that the season 8 finale will springboard his character to the crossover. This indicates the continuation of his story instead of mere flashbacks in the zombie apocalypse series.

In another news, producer Alpert said that the ratings of the show do not reflect its popularity. He told Variety that he thinks it is just a "decline in urgency across all media" and that the show "has not lost its relevance in general." He added that there is an increased competition that could be the reason for the show's declining ratings.

He also said that there are still people who come to him saying that they cannot believe what is happening in season 6. This manifests that many people are still catching up on the show's latest episodes. With that, the Skybound Entertainment CEO is not worried about the series' ratings.

"The Walking Dead" will return on Feb. 25 on AMC in the U.S. In the U.K, the series will air on Feb. 26 on FOX and NOW TV.
