"The Wheel of Time" novels by the late Robert Jordan is often viewed as one of the pinnacles of fantasy, alongside "A Song of Ice and Fire" and "The Lord of the Rings." According to Harriet McDougal herself, editor of the novels and widow of the series' author, the books will be adapted soon as a television series.

"Wanted to share with you exciting news about 'The Wheel of Time.' Legal issues have been resolved. 'The Wheel of Time' will become a cutting edge TV series! I couldn't be more pleased. Look for the official announcement coming soon from a major studio," McDougal announced via Google Plus. 

McDougal also pointed out that the announcement has been approved by the unnamed studio that is set to work on the television adaptation of the novels. It is speculated that a proper announcement will be made in the coming days. This announcement may also confirm which cable network or streaming platform the series will air on.

According to a report from IGN, the legal issues mentioned pertained to a conflict of interests that started in 215 when Red Eagle Entertainment released a pilot episode for "The Wheel of Time" to keep a grip on the copyright but McDougal stated that she had no involvement with the project. Red Eagle Entertainment later sued her for slander.

While it is not confirmed, it is speculated that Red Eagle Entertainment will not be involved with the new adaptation that is being developed. McDougal's post hinted at a major studio working on the series which hints that they may be going for a production as big as that seen for "Game of Thrones."

"The Wheel of Time" is a series comprising 14 books. Jordan published the first book by 1990 and as his health was failing in the mid-2000s he and his wife selected author Brandon Sanderson to finish the final book in the series, which expanded into three volumes. The final book was published in 2013.
