Fans of "The Winds of Winter" are still waiting for updates about its release from "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin. The book is the sixth novel of the fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire." However, latest news reveal that there is a possibility that the book will be out soon since Martin wants to finish it.

Many are aware about the book's delay and some are even ranting about it on social media. It appears, though, that Martin will not keep the readers waiting anymore since he has the intention to finish the last two books of the epic novel series. Because of that goal, the author does not take any projects yet until he finishes "The Winds of Winter."

In a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" discussion with "The Book of Swords" author Gardner Dozois, he hinted that Martin will not accept any other projects until he is done writing the book. Dozois said that he will be collaborating with Martin for "Old Moon" or "Old Luna."

However, he said that he will not be working with the famous author until "A Song of Ice and Fire" is completed. Dozois said that all subsequent collaborative anthologies with Martin are put on hold after the most-awaited novel series is finished. With this, it means that Martin is currently focused on finishing "The Winds of Winter."

Meanwhile, International Business Times pointed out that one possible cause of the delay is Martin's dilemma whether to stick with the original storyline or to consider fan's feedback. One example is the Dorne storyline which is featured in the latest sample chapter from "The Winds of Winter."

It shows that the characters from the Dorne will have a huge impact on the war for the Iron Throne. Apart from that, there are also more stories that are left to be told in the sixth book, which is the reason why fans are very much eager to read it.

Currently, Martin only has a minor part in the "Game of Thrones" TV show, so he will have plenty of time to work on the book. Many fans are hoping that the novel will be released by the end of 2017.
