George R.R. Martin's much awaited book six from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga has yet to see a release date and fans are becoming frustrated with the delay.

The author's upcoming book, "The Winds of Winter," was supposed to be released in 2015, but the usual thing happened — Martin had to go for a much later release date.

Now, rumors have it that the sixth book will arrive sometime in 2016 and this came from a report citing an editor at a Spanish publishing company that owns the rights to Martin's books.

The release date was revealed by editor Alejo Cuervo, who is said to know Martin on a personal level, so his word should be credible enough.

However, the author himself has not provided any comment on the claim and until then, fans will just have to hope that the reported release date would be true.

Martin did express his desire of finishing the book but fans have started to react as to why it has taken the author so much time to publish the new installment.

Now, the "Game of Thrones" (GoT) TV series, which was inspired by Martin's "Ice and Fire" saga, has already caught up with the original sources, and since the sixth book is still not finished, it's already believed that season 6 of the TV adaptation will deviate farther from the author's vision.

This is no surprise at all since GoT has really shown so many elements that make the story very different from the books. In addition, the show's sixth season has already started filming.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Observer, Martin made a comment that it's possible his books and the TV series will portray different endings.

The author may have admitted that he still doesn't know what the ending for the saga will be as he has not started writing it yet, but he did reveal that he is aiming for a bittersweet one.
