CD Projekt Red, apparently, has something big in store for "The Witcher 3" players via the game's upcoming "Blood and Wine" expansion.

In an interview with Eurogamer Italy, "The Witcher 3" senior writer Jakub Szamalek revealed that the game's developers have big plans for Geralt in what will essentially be his final adventure.

According to Szamalek, one of the things that they wanted to do for the "Blood and Wine" expansion was to introduce a "charismatic enemy" for Geralt to deal with. Szamalek's comments would seem to indicate that the game's developer, CD Projekt Red, has indeed managed to pull that off.

Fans can reportedly expect a memorable final opponent for Geralt coming via the new expansion, and that should provide him with the send-off he deserves.

Szamalek also shared that he believes they have managed to create a more "complex" storyline that players can look forward to. The senior writer even believes that the storyline of the "Blood and Wine" expansion may even be better than the one offered in the main game.

The upcoming "Witcher 3" expansion is expected to deliver around 20 hours of new content for players to enjoy. The "Blood and Wine" expansion will also be taking players to a new region in the game known as Toussaint, although not much is known about this unfamiliar location.

The "Blood and Wine" expansion for "The Witcher 3" currently has no specific release date, although it is expected to launch sometime within the first half of 2016, GameSpot reported.

As for Szamalek, the release of the upcoming "Blood and Wine" expansion does not mean that he will be able to take a break.

After the next expansion for "The Witcher 3" is released, Szamalek revealed that he will begin work on the next CD Projekt Red game "Cyberpunk 2077."
