There will be no free DLC for "The Witcher 3" for this week, but the game still welcomes a major patch.

After widespread speculation that the last bit of free DLC will be coming to the game this week, CD Projekt Red instead surprised gamers by introducing the newest patch.

The patch also brings more than just minor changes to the game. Some of the most significant additions found in patch 1.07 include new stash locations and weight cost being done away with for certain items related to alchemy and crafting, according to Polygon. Those two additions, in particular, are expected to make foot traveling inside the game easier.

Apart from those two tweaks, patch 1.07 will also provide a new inventory specifically meant for books. This will enable players to better organize the ones they are carrying while also informing them which ones they have already read since those will be grayed out.

As part of the effort to improve inventory organization even more, players will also be able to use new sorting options. Horses will also begin to start behaving differently so that they are easier to manage in "The Witcher 3."

As always, minor bugs are also addressed with the patch, including ones related to both minor and major quests in the game.

Unlike earlier patches, this latest one is expected to launch at the same time on all platforms instead of debuting first on the PC as has happened previously, according to Gamespot.

All the work being done on patch 1.07 does not come without a cost, however, as the free DLC planned for this week has had its release date moved back to next week. According to CD Projekt Red, all the attention they have been pouring into the latest patch has simply made it impossible for them to still work on launching the free DLC within the same time frame.

Next week's DLC is widely expected to be a new costume for Ciri.
