In the gaming industry, one debate that seems to go on endlessly between techie players is the comparison between the Playstation 4 and Xbox One: which runs games better? Now, with a multi-platform release of one of the most anticipated games of this year, players are using "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" to gauge the performance between the two current-gen competitor platforms.

According to Thomas Morgan of game site Eurogamer, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is a good title to use to exploit and measure the performance of today's current-gen consoles. The game's high graphics requirements and vast areas means that it would definitely make use of all the power and features of both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

So, which of the two runs the new "Witcher" better?

In terms of fluidity in graphics, it seems that the dynamic frame rate on the Xbox One does the best work in turning out high-quality cut scenes and vigorous combat. Microsoft's console allows for a more varied frame rate between 30 to 40 frames per second during gameplay, as opposed to PlayStation 4's static 30 fps.

However, in the long run, the PS4's stable frame rate means that there is no lag between one dynamic scene after another. Turning points in the story, such as from an idyllic farm scene to a snow blizzard mountain cap, have been smoothed out by the PS4's unchanging frame rate.

There are some key points against Sony, however. When the game is in progress but lags due to other factors, the frame rate drops drastically from the stable 30 fps down to almost 20. This abrupt change in pace is easily noticeable during gameplay, especially the heavy scenes.

Over-all, both in the rural scenes and open areas, Microsoft's current-gen platform scores better in terms of graphics fluidity. Although the PlayStation fleshes out more details in some scenes, the Xbox One's inherent capability to balance out frame rates depending on the scene makes a more fluid, stable "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" experience.
