Could a big character be popping back in Genoa City soon? It is quite possible. "The Young and the Restless" spoilers suggest that someone will be coming in or at least be coming back.

The soap's head writer and executive producer, Mal Young, wants to focus on the core characters. The soap community is buzzing with speculation that perhaps it might be the time for a big favorite character to resurface. The character in question? Adam Newman.

Soap Central recently posted a blind item on Twitter, but that could refer to any of the four soap operas that are currently on the air. The bit of information hinted that one show is recasting a big role. The character has been out of the picture for a while, but the soap is setting up for their comeback.

If it is for "The Young and the Restless," could Adam Newman, the family's favorite, be coming back? Nothing is impossible, after all, especially with the state of the Newman family lately. Victor's (Eric Braeden) brood of kids have been getting into mishaps here and there and Adam might be the only sensible one left among them.

While fans of the soap love Victor, who has certainly become a core character in his own right, there will come a time when Eric Braeden may not be able to stay anymore. The show will have to prepare for that in the future. This is why an Adam recast is beneficial. His return could let Victor groom him to be next in line to inherit the proverbial Newman throne.

Of course, apart from Adam's ability to both be sneaky and beloved at the same time, having him back could also set up some very interesting reunions. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is now dating Nick (Joshua Morrow), who also happens to be raising Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen). Nick is Adam's brother, and Christian is Adam's son, so there will be some drama ahead.

Plus, Adam's resurfacing would make him Victoria's (Amelia Heinle) rival for the favorite child. As of now, Vickie is the golden girl in her father's eyes, but that might change if Adam comes back. Victor might push Vickie aside in favor of his favorite child.

Elsewhere, "The Young and the Restless" spoilers for Thursday's episode reveal that Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Scott (Daniel Hall) will feel ashamed of themselves for having sex. They will hurl insults at each other as they get dressed. Abby will tell Scott that she is on birth control while they look for more proof against Zack (Ryan Ashton).

Fortunately, they will find a notebook that has a lot of proof. The notebook contains all of Zack's safe house properties and shady companies. As they look through the piece of evidence that they found, Paul (Doug Davidson) as well as Sharon (Sharon Case) will interrogate Dina (Marla Adams). Dina will eventually recall hearing Abby having a conversation with Zack in the car. She will then go on to say that they went in a building that had a "roadside" sign in front.

Paul will fortunately find Roadside Storage after a quick search online. Sharon will tag along with him when they head to the location. However, the storage unit will be empty when they arrive. Paul will deduce that Scott and Abby must have escaped using the sprinkler system. He will think they made a small fire with the phone battery, unlocking the doors in the process.

Meanwhile, Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) will pay Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) a visit at her apartment. He will confront her about her plot with Hilary (Mishael Morgan), and Phyllis will insist that she was just really interested in having some fun, but she is not interested anymore. She will think that Jordan being this shady makes him just as bad as Billy (Jason Thompson).

Jordan's comments are not the only things Phyllis will find herself dealing with later on. Her neighbor will start blasting loud music all day and she will eventually decide to leave to get away from the loud noise. However, just as she opens the door, she will see Billy standing right behind it. He will say that he got the apartment next door. It is only a matter of time before Phyllis caves in and takes him back.

"The Young and the Restless" airs Mondays to Fridays at 1:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
