Chelsea's past is out in the open in "The Young and the Restless"

Following the announcement of J.T.'s (Thad Luckinbill) return to Genoa City in the coming episodes of "The Young and the Restless," spoilers indicate that there are other characters that could shake things up in town come 2018.

Long-time viewers of the soap are as excited as ever to have Reed's (Tristan Lake Leabu) father pop back into town. However, there are several other characters that fans would want to see in next year's episodes. First of which, is the obvious favorite, the Newman golden boy, Adam. Although Justin Hartley may no longer be able to reprise the role on the show that does not mean that his character has to be kicked to the curb. Michael Muhney has expressed interest in reprising the role, and there are obviously other actors who would love to land the gig.

It has been a year at the most since Hartley exited the show, so having a recast would be just fine. Everyone knows that Victor (Eric Braeden) could use Adam's help more than ever lately. Should Adam be coming back, joining Victor at Newman, then his return should pave the way for someone over at the Abbotts' side too. This character in particular would be Kyle (Lachlan Buchanan).

Maybe Kyle could be a little older this time around, and perhaps a little edgier. This could also pave the way for a father and son battle; it would by Jack (Peter Bergman) and Kyle against Victor and Adam. The power struggle gets real in this case.

Apart from a potential power struggle between the Newman and Abbott father and son duos, it is about time someone decided to wreak havoc on Genoa City. Enter Ian (Ray Wise), the third on this list. Newman is on shaky ground at the moment while Victor's own family is anything but solid right now. Ian could strike while Victor is at his most vulnerable.

Along with Ian, Crazy Patty (Stacy Haiduk) could also be brought back. There can always be a reason why Patty would decide to break out of the mental institution and give someone the surprise of their life. Perhaps, Ian could be the one to help her out, using her as one of his pawns in a scheme he can come up with.

Last, but certainly not the least, there is always Kevin (Greg Rikaart). It has been hinted that he might be coming back in time for the holiday season, but it has not been officially confirmed yet. Either way, a lot of fans would love to see him around again, and it would be more than great if Kevin stuck around a lot longer, perhaps for good.

Meanwhile, "The Young and the Restless" spoilers indicate some major changes for both Devon (Bryton James) and Hilary (Mishael Morgan) in the relationship department. The two of them still have a kind of connection to each other, however, Devon has not been willing to get back together with her. Yet, that might change soon.

For starters, Devon has something with Mariah (Camryn Grimes). While he likes spending time with her, it is pretty obvious that these two will not last. It seems that they are just not that into each other. The two of them are really better off as friends, even if there might be a hint of something more than that. It does not always mean true love when there is a little spark between them.

Plus, there are Mariah's feelings for Tessa (Cait Fairbanks). She might decide that it is unfair to Devon if she keeps leading him on. Whether she decides to either break up with him or her secret is exposed, the two of them are inevitably going to break up. With this in mind, this is another hurdle Devon can jump over.

Hilary, on the other hand, could be up for some mishaps down the road. She has made herself some dangerous enemies, so she might have to watch her back because there might be some retaliation in the works.

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) certainly would be on board getting revenge on her. Knowing how Hilary is, she will wind up provoking a lot more people soon too. Once she goes too far, she could end up stirring a lot more trouble than she expected.

Despite all her scheming, Devon can still see her softer side. While Hilary can be ruthless, it is easy to see that she truly loves Devon. They have been apart for some time now, so Devon can probably come to terms with Hilary's bad side. He can only resist her for so long.

Hilary is obviously up for some major backlash from exposing big secrets and scandals. When she gets her comeuppance, fans can expect Devon to be there to comfort her. This could pave the way for a future reunion between the two.

"The Young and the Restless" airs Mondays to Fridays at 1:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
