"This Is Us" season 2 is set to feature more heartbreaking scenes, apart from the recent episode which features how Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) died. But according to creator Dan Fogelman, this is not the saddest moment of the season yet.

Fans finally got the answer to their question about Jack's death in the recent episode of the series. It featured Jack cleaning up from a Super Bowl party when their slow cooker ignited and flames erupted in the kitchen. However, it did not exactly show Jack being dead. Aside from that, it also did not show how the rest of the family managed to get out of the house.

In an interview with Variety, Fogelman said that much of the season will show how the characters deal with their grief. He said that it would be too much if all of that will be placed in one episode. He also teased that fans will get to know more about Jack. While other cast has a clear story about their past, Jack's life story is still muddied. Fogelman said that this is intentional and that they will slowly address this in the series.

Fogelman said that what made the recent episode beautiful, is its simplicity. He also told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming episodes will be very, very heavy and fans will have a different kind of emotional reaction to them.

The "This Is Us" boss also hinted that there will be a character evolution for Jack's wife, Rebecca (Mandy Moore). She is very heartbroken that her husband, whom she had a great love story with, passed away. He said that there is sadness in Rebecca and it is very challenging for her to handle three teenagers. But she needs to pull herself back up and continue living without Jack.

"This Is Us" airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
