February 2nd would just be another championship day of the National Football League (NFL), if not for NBC planning to break the hearts of viewers across the country with the special episode of "This is Us" season 2. The upcoming episode of the drama series is set to air right after the Super Bowl game, and the teaser already confirms that the fans will finally learn about the reason of Jack Pearson's (Milo Ventimiglia) death. 

Prior to the Super Bowl episode of "This is Us" season 2 next week, the show already gave away hints that Jack would lose his life to a tragic house fire. The Pearson family considers Jack's death as the turning point of their lives, and the members are still not comfortable talking about the incident after all these years. Nevertheless, actress Mandy Moore, who plays Jack's loving wife, Rebecca, is excited for all the viewers to witness the next episode.

"I can't wait for fans to see our Super Bowl episode," Moore said in an interview with ET Online. "People will get a lot of answers and will be able to move forward. I think for everybody's sake it'll be a good thing."

It appears that the characters of the present timeline of "This is Us" have yet to get their closure from Jack's death, but for the show's fans, knowing what actually happened during the day of Jack's death will explain a lot of questions. It might not just be fitting to reveal the most heartwrenching moment of the series on the same day of the NFL championship, when the viewers are in a celebration mood. To recall, "This is Us" season 2 was able to reserve the Super Bowl slot last year, with NBC deciding to use the time to show how Jack died.

The previous episodes of "This is Us" season 2 had a lot of foreshadowing of Jack's death. For one, the Pearson patriach was seen going with Rebecca to the mall, spending quality with each other as a happy couple. The two had already made plans for their triplets, particularly on how things are going to be once they enter college. Perhaps the most intriguing and disturbing highlight of all was the scene with the powerless smoke detector in their home, and as per the latest episode, the family kitchen already caught fire due to the faulty switch of the slow cooker.
