President of the Mormon Church Thomas S. Monson dies at the age of 90. Family, friends, supporters, and even the President of the United States of America paid tribute to the life of Monson and all of his contribution to the world.

Monson died at his Salt Lake City home at 10:01 p.m. Tuesday night due to natural causes. Monson left behind his three children, Ann, Thomas Lee, and Clark Spencer and his grandchildren. Clark's son Paul shared the memories he had with his grandfather. During an interview with LDS Church News, Paul said, "I'm grateful that my grandpa managed to make time to attend some of my soccer and tennis matches over the years. When I was very young even came to one of my swimming lessons. I know it wasn't easy for him, but I will never forget that he was there for me."

United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are among the people who paid their respects to the departed leader.

"Melania and I are deeply saddened by the death of Thomas S. Monson, a beloved President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving for over half a century in the leadership of his church, President Monson demonstrated wisdom, inspired leadership, and great compassion. Considered by the nearly 16 million members of the LDS church, his message was one of optimism, forgiveness, and faith," Trump said in a statement.

The 16th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being remembered as one of the most influential religious leaders of the Mormon Church and to other religions as well. He became the President of the LDS Church back in Feb. 3, 2008 until his demise on Jan. 2 this year.

Monson also served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1963 to 1985. He then took the position of counselor in the First Presidency from 1985 to 2008.

Almost 16 million members of the LDS church are in the middle of mourning for the loss of their pastor, friend, and leader.
