Fans of Marvel's "Thor" movie franchise have seen the Asgardian God of Thunder battle it out with his enemies in his home as well as on Earth in the previous movies. But for the third installment of the franchise, "Thor: Ragnarok," director Kevin Feige is going in a new direction.

Feige revealed the upcoming film's new setting, saying that it will be set somewhere other than Earth.

In an interview with Empire magazine via Comic Book Movie, Feige said, "The film takes place within the cosmos primarily, which is to say, frankly, very little Earth."

The new setting will be a breath of fresh air for the franchise since there are Nine Realms in Thor's story that have yet to be explored. In the first and second movie, only Asgard and Earth were featured, although the second film "The Dark World" also featured a battle set in Svartalfheim.

While the title hints at an Asgardian apocalypse, Feige said that fans shouldn't expect it and promised that "Ragnarok" will be very different from the previous films.

"I don't think people will read into that title alone [regarding] what the movie's going to be," the director explained. "It's going to be, perhaps, as totally different from the two prior 'Thor' movies as 'Winter Soldier' was from the first 'Captain America.'"

Feige added that they wanted to take the upcoming film to new places and that they have a familiar character who will be appearing in the film: The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk first worked together in the first "Avengers" movie. The two continued to be friends since the shy and mild-mannered Dr. Bruce Banner got along with everyone when he isn't his green alter-ego.

It will be interesting to see how the two will work together when they explore other worlds in the Nine Realms when the movie premieres next year.

"Thor: Ragnarok" premieres on Nov. 3, 2017.
