Thousands to Gather for Greater Manchester Prayer Week

|TOP|Christian youth initiative The Message Trust and other mission organisations will launch The Week of Prayer in Greater Manchester, from 1 July- 9 July, 2006.

The Message Trust — along with City Light Trust, Heartnotes Ministries, Maranatha, Network — will invite thousands of Christians from all denominations to join together in Albert Square for the Week of Prayer launch event, with several VIPs including MPs, local councillors, police, Education and Health Officials interviewed on stage. Together, they will celebrate God and pray for the future of Greater Manchester.

From Sunday 2nd to Sunday 9th July a number of individual and joint borough events will be held across Greater Manchester, where every church and Christian organisation is being invited to join in prayer. Christians will be encouraged to pray not only individually in their own homes but also collectively in their local churches.

|AD|The Week of Prayer presents the opportunity for lots of different expressions of prayer, across all the denominations and streams represented. Uniting together as The Church in Greater Manchester, the vision is to give the whole of the church in all 10 Boroughs a chance to pray together and facilitate a region-wide movement instead of promoting any single organisation or group separately.

Dave King, Director of City Light Trust and Chairman of the Week of Prayer said:

"This week enables the whole of the church across the county to pray together as never before, asking God's will to be done and His kingdom to come in our families, our neighbourhoods, our boroughs, our cities and our county of Greater Manchester."

Andy Hawthorne, Founder and Chief Executive of The Message Trust added:

“This is a unique chance to pray for Manchester in a way like never before. Can there be anything more important that the Church could give its attention to at a time like this than such a united, faith-filled prayer for our great City?”
