Three radio awards for HCJB Global

Media and healthcare charity HCJB Global scooped three awards last week for its UK-focused radio production company, Whistling Frog Productions.

HCJB won a Merit Award at the Sandford St Martin Radio and TV Awards for a series of five short radio spots played on commercial station, Pulse, in west Yorkshire.

The series, called "Jesus Meek and Mild?", used music, vox pops, and punchy commentary to explore some of the common misconceptions about the person of Jesus.

HCJB Global received the reward from the new Bishop of Bradford and Chairman of the Sandford St Martin Trust, the Rt Rev Nick Baines, at an award ceremony held at Lambeth Palace in London.

Just two days later, the HCJB Global team was presented with the Gold Award for ‘Best Speech Magazine Programme’ at the Christian Broadcasting Council (CBC) Media Awards, which also took place in London.

This prize was for a special Christmas feature commissioned by Sunrise Radio, a station aimed at the Asian community in Yorkshire. The programme looked at some of the myths about the real meaning of Christmas and featured Asian Christians talking about their faith.

The CBC Media Awards were presented by the comedian Tim Vine.
