After a series of speculations, Vince Zampella, the CEO and founder of game studio Respawn, finally confirmed that the sequel to "Titanfall" is currently in development, and it will be released on different platforms.

IGN caught up with Zampella during the recently concluded BAFTA Game Awards and asked him about the existence of the game, which he discussed for the first time.

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or ... yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff, too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform," Respawn's chief said

GameSpot earlier reported that Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen first talked about the planned sequel for "Titanfall" during the 2015 Technology, Internet and Media Conference held in February, where he mentioned that they are working with Respawn Entertainment on a new "Titanfall" game.

According to Jorgensen, "Last year it was on the Xbox only; in the future, we haven't yet announced, but we'll probably have another Titanfall game. It will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform. I think that's a huge positive for us."

Aside from the sequel of the 2014 multiplayer first-person shooter game, Zampella also discussed about their plans for the downloadable content. According to Respawn's CEO, they want to adapt the DLC concept of "Evolve" so the player community will not have to be divided because not everyone has the DLC.

"I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy. Yeah. I don't know we won't do it again, I can't say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different," he said.

At the moment, Respawn Entertainment has not provided the release date for "Titanfall 2."
