'Titanfall 2' release date likely in 2017: what to expect

When publisher Electronic Arts decided to skip a "Titanfall 2" presentation at this year's recently-concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo, many fans of the title wondered if having the game handled by a big-name game company is a drawback since EA is reportedly busy with the upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront" title.

Early this year, developer Respawn Entertainment confirmed that it is currently working on a sequel to the first "Titanfall" game, and one of the features of the upcoming installment is that it will be released across platforms. This indicates that "Titanfall 2" will be released for the Playstation 4 as well, unlike the first game which was made exclusive to the Xbox One aside from the PC version.

Many fans initially expected the game to be released later this year. However, it seems that due to the many popular titles under its belt, EA will not be putting "Titanfall 2" on the shelves any time soon.

Indeed, such is the outlook of the company that during a recent earnings call, EA's Blake Jorgensen said, "You should assume that's not in fiscal '16; it's more likely in fiscal '17."

A fiscal year for a game company runs from April of a preceding year to March the following year, placing the release of "Titanfall 2" between the dates April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. If this is indeed the case, then fans can expect more concrete details about the game at next year's E3 event.

Although it seems that the release of "Titanfall 2" is taking a bit long, fans are still eagerly waiting for the launch, as it is reported that the upcoming title will be bringing an updated gameplay and design to the series. It is said that it will add a whole new multiplayer support aside from a revamped single player campaign.
