Publisher Electronic Arts is hoping that its upcoming major project, "Titanfall 2," will be a hit among gamers, and so the studio changed one key feature of the sequel. Instead of the second installment being an Xbox exclusive like the original, the upcoming installment will be a multi-platform title.

The official teaser trailer for "Titanfall 2" was recently published online, and one of the big reveals is that aside from the expected Xbox One version of the title, there will also be a Windows PC version. This is not a surprise, considering that Microsoft is pushing for connected content between the Xbox One and its desktop platform via Windows 10.

Meanwhile, a surprise platform version has also been revealed. "Titanfall 2" is confirmed to be landing on the PlayStation 4. This detail confirms what EA hinted at at this year's BAFTA Game Awards.

Speaking to IGN, developer Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella teased, "So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

In addition, a hint of its still-unannounced release date is also waiting at the end of the teaser: the worldwide official reveal of "Titanfall 2" is coming this June.

Prior to the teaser trailer release, the mid-2016 reveal was confirmed by Electronic Arts. According to the studio, "Titanfall 2" will be present at the company's EA Play event, scheduled to coincide with this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. EA will not have a booth at the E3. Rather, its own press event will showcase the company's game roster, including "Titanfall 2."

Meanwhile, although EA has yet to come out with an official release date for "Titanfall 2," it seems that the title being revealed in the middle of the year means that the studio is hoping to roll out the game before 2016 ends.
