'Titanfall 2' release date news: Game launches Oct. 28 with improved multiplayer features

Respawn Entertainment

While "Titanfall" was only available for the Xbox One and later Xbox 360 and PC, it never launched for the PS4. This will change when its sequel, "Titanfall 2," launches for PS4 and the aforementioned platforms this coming October. As reported by Gamespot, the new game is more than a sequel and will be introducing several multiplayer improvements and new features.

"We're changing a lot of our matchmaking systems so you can find better games quicker," explained producer Drew McCoy. "We've added this awesome new thing called Networks that lets you make groups of friends and play together a lot easier."

This system will allow players to see which Network is online and which players of that Network are available. This will be akin in some way to the Circles from Google Plus, allowing players to immediately see if the usual group they play with are available for a match.

Improving the options when creating online matches and joining them will be a big benefit for competitive players given that many online multiplayer games often encounter difficulties in this area. Several games, such as "The Division," are dealing with gamers dropping out of matches or in difficulties finding matches made by friends.

McCoy also confirmed that they would be continuing the new "Inside Development" series which currently has two episodes up and online. These videos focus on the more intricate details of the game's development and will give gamers a more intimate look at the new gameplay details of the game.

IGN also reveals that the game is not just going to be multiplayer-only like before. Revealed during E3, "Titanfall 2" will feature a unique single player campaign that focuses on a soldier who goes by the name of Jack Cooper. Cooper is not fighting alone, however, as he is accompanied by a sentient robot.

"Titanfall 2" will launch on Oct. 28.
