Is Respawn working on a new game title completely unrelated to Titanfall?

This news had been confirmed by Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella, after mentioning in an interview with Game Informer that a new team had been formed to work on a separate game from Titanfall.

"There is a second team. Non-Titanfall related... The Titanfall team still exists as a fully functional team...We have another team in pre-production that's smaller, just starting up. But it's a much smaller group at this point," Zampella shared.

Earlier this year, the game development company also hired the former lead developer of Sony's God of War 3 Stig Asmussen. He is now the head developer for the still unnamed title that is allegedly the next release from Respawn.

The CEO also said that they are planning to keep mum about further details surrounding the new game, and it would be impossible for them to reveal the next title during the E3 2015.

Meanwhile, Zampella also shared that Titanfall is nearing the eight million unique players mark, which he describes as a major feat considering that the game is only released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Yet he believes that the game's exclusivity to one platform should change in the future. He also hinted that they could release the game on Steam soon.

"At some point you look at it and you say is it even worth now this much later the effort to put it on Steam, when it would be a lot of work and kind of bifurcate the community?" the CEO said. "We would have loved for it to be on Steam from day one, but at some point it just doesn't make sense anymore and you start looking to the future and I think we should not make that same decision again."

Also, the sequel for Titanfall had been confirmed by the game developer back in March, and it will be likely released on other gaming platforms like PlayStation.
