"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will take a break from protagonist Ken Kaneki's story and focus on former waitress and trench coat-loving ghoul Touka Kirishima.

According to Anime Maru, "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will open with Touka's distress over which college to go to. One of her choices is To-Oh University -- the others are Duke University and Kamii University.

In "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, Touka will have a hard time choosing because of the growing discrimination towards ghouls like her, which is something that Duke University has the biggest problem of.

Touka is only considering Kamii University to be with Ken, who was a student there until he dropped out after feeling he should do more and be more. She's left with To-Oh, which is the anime version of Japan's popular school Toho University.

As Touka is likely ending up with the said school, fans have started to think that Madhouse Entertainment and not Studio Pierrot may finally be involved in the production of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.

To-Oh University was featured in "Death Note," which Madhouse develops. This has many thinking that the animation studio will be in charge of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, which fans have always wanted to see.

Fans blasted the second season of "Tokyo Ghoul" after utterly diverting from the manga by Sui Ishida. The first season followed the source material to the letter.

Madhouse's involvement hasn't been confirmed by the company and Studio Pierrot itself, although fans will be happy to see "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 taken care of by a studio that is notorious for its loyalty to its source.

As for the release date of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, rumor has it that it could premiere as early as this fall. However, there are also reports that it will be out early next year instead.
