Another "Tokyo Ghoul" live-action film might be in the works.

Popular manga "Tokyo Ghoul" was recently adapted as a live-action film and was released in Japanese theaters. The film, which is directed by Kentaro Hagiwara, also had a successful run in the United States. But that is not all, rumors for a "Tokyo Ghoul 2" movie sequel is milling around the internet.

Fans are hyped with the news when actress Fumika Shimizu accidentally leaked about the film. According to Japan's Daily Sport, she is negotiating her contract for her role in "Tokyo Ghoul 2" as Touka Kirishima. The said leak was, apparently, revealed unintentionally when Fumika announced her retirement.

However, fans were quick to notice it and were hyped by the news of an upcoming movie sequel for the anime. Rumors about the sequel started while others are saddened that Fumika will no longer be returning to "Tokyo Ghoul 2" as Touka.

In an interview with ComicBook, Kentaro is hoping that there will indeed be another live-action film. It is noted that the live-action adaptation of Sui Ishida's manga series is widely regarded. He said that if the movie will happen, more interesting characters will be introduced. He is also looking into creating a good balance between the cool visuals and the dramatic elements of the manga.

Kentaro hopes that his live-action films will end the curse of bad live-action anime adaptations. With that, he said that there should be a sense of reality and the visuals in the manga version should be updated well for live-action.

He also revealed that one of the most challenging part is to make the kagune (a ghoul's predatory organ) appear realistic. He wanted to show the beauty of Sui Ishida's artwork against the "more grotesque content." With that, he created a ratio of 70 percent beauty to 30 percent ugliness. A good example of that is Kaneki's kagune wherein he added some light sparkles to make it appear shiny.

If "Tokyo Ghoul 2" movie sequel will indeed happen, Kentaro will make sure that he will have a good adaptation of the manga. As for the plot and storyline, it is not yet revealed as of this writing. But like other live-action films, it would be based on the manga with a little twist.
