Fans are very much excited for the upcoming third season of "Tokyo Ghoul." However, they are frustrated as well because the latest report indicate that the anime series will not be back until March 2017.

Followers of the series have already been waiting for more than a year since the last season ended in March 2015. Pre-production has not even started yet and the reason behind is the lack of material. The "Tokyo Ghoul" manga, created by Sui Ishida, is a couple of chapters ahead and will not suffice for another 12-episode anime television adaptation, Christian Times reported.

Avid fans have tried calling the attention of Pierrot, the studio behind the anime adaptation, and Funimation, the series publisher, to just have a reboot the show for its upcoming third season. Fans are aware that the first two seasons did not follow the manga as well, so there is no point in doing it in the third.

However, one of the show's writers wanted to change all that and to stay true to the manga with the upcoming season, which was mentioned when season 3 was announced back in 2015, which was reported by Anime Haru.

According to the writer named Bob, (not his real name), "This is perhaps the most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot line that we will attempt to adapt."

He added, "We hope to remain as faithful as possible to the source material, although we cannot guarantee that more gory scenes such as Touka's standardized exam test-taking will not be censored."

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was originally scheduled for a winter season release. However, there is still a small chance that Ishida might have enough source materials to be able to make it to its original commitment.

"Tokyo Ghoul" is the story of Ken Kaneki, a half-ghoul, half-human, who fights full-blooded ghouls and stop them from hunting down the humans for food.
