No official word about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 has been released yet by Studio Pierrot. It has been more than a year since the anime's sophomore run.

Fans were not happy about the second season of the show as it did not follow the manga created by Sui Ishida. The show seems to have shuffled the chapters as well.

Some fans believe that the changes in the second season somehow made it difficult to follow story-wise while others believe that there were questions raised that should be answered in "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3.

However, Studio Pierrot has not given updates about the anime yet. It is also unclear if they will stick with the source material this time seeing the backlash for the creative change in the second season.

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is expected to pick up from where the second season of the anime left off, which saw Arima and Kaneki battle. By the end of it, Arima was the only one standing there, suggesting he defeated his enemy.

For "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3, the anime will reportedly follow the story of how Ken Kaneki forgot his true identity and begins to live his life as a different person.

As per speculations by those who read the manga, Ken became a Rank 1 investigator by the name Haise Sasaki, who also happens to be the leader of a special unit of investigators at the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG).

However, for now, it is tough to figure out what direction Studio Pierrot will go seeing that it has the tendency to change the storylines.

It is because of this that some fans wanted Madhouse Entertainment to handle the adaptation as the studio is known for accurately and loyally following the source material.
