Is Season 3 of the horror anime Tokyo Ghoul ever going to see the light of day?

This is the question foremost on fans' minds as the continued delays in production and now the turnover of the development to Madhouse Entertainment has caused worry among supporters of the manga series that the anime will version will be discontinued.

According to a report by Mobile and Apps, it has been confirmed that Madhouse will be taking on the reins of the anime starting from Season 3 after fans expressed displeasure over the way Studio Pierrot handled the first two seasons.

Fans complained that the anime deviated too much from the original material penned by manga artist Sui Ishida.

According to a report by Christian Times, the third season will focus on Touka Kirishima. This will be a departure from the first two seasons which centered around main protagonist Ken Kaneki.

Kirishima may already be a familiar face to fans of the anime has she has already appeared in the first two seasons. The character is a ghoul and worked as a part time waitress as she studied in high school.

She had close ties with Ken, who is a half ghoul as she served as his bridge to blend in with other ghouls.

Despite this however, they do not have a good relationship as Kirishima actually hates Ken. This will also play out in Season 3.

Season 3 is expected to follow Kirishima's journey as a college student as well as the challenges she needs to face to do so.

Still no word on when Season 3 will be released by Studio Pierrot or Madhouse as yet, so it is unsure whether production is still a go.

However, the Tokyo Ghoul live action movie is expected to hit theaters next year.
