'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege' 2.2 update release date: PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 roll out begins

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" update 2.2 has been rolled out by Ubisoft, the game's developer and publisher, which started off with PC on March 1, followed by Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 2. The latest update contains several countermeasures against cheating players and several bug fixes.

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" update 2.2 ensures that all players will have a healthy competition and greater gameplay experience than before, where some players had advantages over others because of an unbalanced game, as Ubisoft stated in its patch notes.

"Patch 2.2's main goal is to ensure a solid competitive experience before the start of the Rainbow Six Pro League. Its content is focused on elements such as cheating, exploits and spawn killing counter-measures as well as minor tweaks and bug fixes," the company said.

A new Report Button can now be used by players to flag down players who are playing suspiciously. Reports are then forwarded to the game system's "cheating countermeasures" and will be acted upon immediately. A Kill Cam is also now available in the game's ranked matches. "Rainbow Six Siege" players are complaining of widespread cheating during such events.

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" update 2.2 also includes several bug fixes. A few of these are:

  • Weapons appearing trough the wall
  • Drone going outside the game area
  • Game texture not displaying properly on the operators in a T-Pose
  • Players not receiving damage when rappelling and using a drone
  • Players falling off the map when rappelling
  • Lighting issues

Additionally, spawning areas were given some adjustments so as to give a more balanced gameplay. Previously, several spawning areas were directly within sight of the defending team, which gives them a huge advantage. After the update, the offensive team will be scattered, some behind trucks, trees and walls. In the Construction Site map, a wooden wall was turned into a metal wall so that a player will not be riddled immediately with bullets upon spawning.
