The "Tom Clancy's The Division" beta scheduled this month has been pushed back to early 2016 to buy more time in polishing the much-awaited shooter. But to balance out the bad news, developer Ubisoft is holding an alpha test for gamers who pre-ordered the Xbox One version.

This alpha test will be the actual first time gamers will get to try out the title and it offers "more than" the Dark Zone player-versus-player enabled areas. The event starts today, Dec. 9 at 4 a.m. EST and ends Dec. 12 at 3 a.m. EST.

"Tom Clancy's The Division" alpha test members are not allowed to share images or videos from the game. Capturing gameplay content or livestreaming it is also prohibited. Signing a non-disclosure agreement is a requirement.

Ubisoft warns that the version of the shooter participants will play is not the final product so participants of the alpha test are requested to provide feedback on the gameplay and mostly the technical aspects of the game so the developer can improve and polish it before it releases.

Before fans could also be concerned about "Tom Clancy's The Division" being deferred altogether, the game studio also made it clear that while there will be a delay in the beta testing, the title will still be released on the previously designated date.

"We know many of you have been patiently awaiting the arrival of 'The Division' Beta, and we appreciate your patience as the team remains committed to delivering an open-world action-RPG experience that exceeds your expectations on March 8, 2016," Ubisoft wrote in a blog post.

The alpha test version of the game will be 23.2 GB and will be available worldwide except Japan and China.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft is yet to determine a specific date for the "Tom Clancy's The Division" beta, but those who pre-ordered any of the PS4, PC and Xbox One version will surely secure a spot.
