Alicia Vikander will be bringing to life the gaming world's most iconic female, Lara Croft as the Tomb Raider.

The movie is set to be released on March 16, 2018, and is directed by Raor Uthaug. Geneva Robertson-Dworet has written the script for the new and rebooted movie.

"Tomb Raider" 2018 version will still hold true to the two films that came before it as well as the video games. This means that fans will see a lot of puzzle solving and also some history debunking rooted on mystery and mysticism.

However, from the first movie poster revealed, this Lara Croft will be a bit unusual from the Lara Croft of Angelina Jolie. Vikander's Lara Croft seems to be leaning more on the PlayStation 4 game "Rise of the Tomb Raider." Unlike the first two movies, Vikander is seen battle-worn, with scars and wounds. She is wearing just a casual tank top and jeans baked in mud and dirt.

The 2018 version of Tomb Raider will be an origins story aiming to re-introduce the story of Lara Croft to the newer generation of gamers. However, like the first two movies, the story of Lara will start from the death of her father, Lord Richard Croft. Just like its predecessors, Vikander's Lara Croft is faced to save the world from an imminent danger.

Warner Bros. Pictures released an official trailer last Sept. 19 on their YouTube channel. The trailer revealed that Lara will be facing a group of bad guys called "Trinity." The trailer also showed scenes that seem to mirror the actual gameplay scenes using the third-person perspective. Another trope taken from the game is a plane scene that showed Lara crossing to the other end of the waterfall.

Fans have already hinted that this new "Tomb Raider" movie will be full of action that the game has been known for.
