Much hype was built prior to the launch of franchise "Tony Hawk's" current title "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5." Because the series installment had been waiting for more than a decade – "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4" was launched way back in 2002 – fans of the franchise and skateboarding fans in general very much anticipated the title's release.

However, when "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" launched last week, there was a lukewarm reception for the title, and with glitches and bugs discovered by players, early reviews were bad. In addition, fans also felt that the launch, particularly of the North American version, was rushed, seeing as there was also a Day One patch that, at 7.7 GB, was bigger than the game itself.

In response to fans' reactions, publisher Activision said it would immediately remedy the current bugs and glitches.

"We are aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5' and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the 'Tony Hawk' fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years."

Meanwhile, the publisher also announced that it will follow through on its promise of free DLC. Previously, Activision said that future updates to the game include at least two free stages, in addition to the eight levels in the full version of the game when it launched. Future free expansions for the title will also include five bonus skaters. However, Activision did not say whether the bonus characters will come in a bundle or as individual expansion packs.

The publisher also has not made any comments on the general release window for the updates, but fans may expect the updates to roll out after the title's release for the older-gen PS3 and Xbox 360 in November.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" is currently available for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
